Each member is given a 12-month assessment period to demonstration the skills they have learned, applied at live events, commissions and their own projects.
All creatives in lead roles at Spacesuit are Academy alumni.
Spacesuit Academy recruits must meet three principal requirements:"the eye", character, diversity.
Skills can be learned; "the eye" cannot. We look carefully at portfolio submissions to search for people who see the world differently but in a style that will complement our existing team.
Character is next. We look for creatives who are absorbed in their art and who want to help our team build something much bigger than individual egos. Passion, not a paycheck, should be the driving motivation.
And we look for difference in perspective, heritage, culture and interests. We want complementary styles but unique voices who can tell stories in new ways.
Our senior team invests a huge amount of time and personal attention into the programme and so we can only invite a small amount of creative to join the academy at any one time.
